Learning Outside the Box

Sometime, studying inside the safety of the four corners of our room is boring. Its like same old same old scenery. Honestly, there's a day in class when it became a snooze fest. We needed a little change every once in a while. We needed a little breeze from our face and a little invigorating sight so that we can breathe from our studies inside our room.

Last October 3 2013, the Makabayan students ,and the other Theodorians of course, had a "Lakbay Aral". We went from various places, from museums and historical landmarks, to recreational parks with awesome views. The people wanted it to be fun and enjoyable, at the same time, educational. We had a teacher in our coach. He is our tour guide, and he babbled a lot of things. Some students jutted down what the tour guide is saying, while some, did nothing.(I'm a part of those). It is nauseous inside our couch and we don't want to get anymore sicker than we already were.

The Makabayans first destination was the Museo ng Katipunan. The museum featured a lot of katipuneros, their history, what heroic deed they had done. Every corner of the museum had something to look at. The great thing about this museum is that, the spectators don't just stand in front of art, they can interact with it.

Our next destination was the La Mesa Eco Park. We had our lunch break here. Each section had a kubo where eating is possible. Makabayan had a little picnic. Our adviser was surprised because she didn't know that we prepared food as a whole.

Nice view right?
Upstairs, was the dam of La Mesa. Unfortunately, taking pictures of the dam was prohibited. I honestly don't get why.
Nonetheless, the
                                                                                     view there was
                                                                                     stupendous.

My bestest buddies since first year.

Then the Makabayans went to the Vargas Museum inside the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

Art here was mind-boggling. Some artworks looked so real, you wont believe its just a work of hand. Some had great details that it looked like a photograph. I can believe that concrete blocks could be art.

Like in Eco Park, we weren't allowed to take photographs in some part of the museum. Too bad cause all of the artworks was astounding.

Our next stop was the PAG-ASA Weather and Flood Forecasting Center. The people there taught us about cyclones, how they form, what are they made out of. I thought I should listen to them cause one of the programs I'm taking in college is associated with them.

Our last place to visit was the Quezon City Memorial Circle. It was raining that time so we didn't quite fully enjoy the park. The park was full of machine for work out and our group tried them all. There were stores scattered in the area and we bought food in there. Just a little tip, Kwek-kweks there don't taste like Kwek-kwek.

Teacher's Day Celebration

"A teacher is someone who would consume itself just to light the way of others." A simple quotation that tells everything about the teachers. Teachers sacrifice their lives to develop others. They, oftentimes, forget about their needs because of their students. A student can't do anything but give their gratitude to their teacher for what they have done for them.

October 2013, Theodorians had the Teacher's Day Celebration. Well, we did it for a week because that's how grateful we are to our teachers. I know that it should be done every day but, nowadays, students aren't that showy. We let them rest for a while. The fun part of this activity was that teachers will rest and students will teach. It is Theodorian tradition.

The teachers were bored in their three free days. They said that they miss the irritating students, giving sermons and lecturing them. I think it's already a part of their system. They are not used to being idle at times. One time, a teacher told me, "I might be at home, but my brain is still in school. I just can't stop worrying about you. You might do something that would put you in trouble. I couldn't bear that".

OCTOBER 7 2013 The Party Starts.

It started with the flag ceremony and the games had begun.

The first game was the balloon game.

Teachers needed to pop the balloons on their co-teachers lap. The battle is between the High School Teacher and the Elementary Teachers.

Students cheer and chant  for their teachers. Their face was all hilarious. It was really amazing seeing them looked like a bunch of kids like us.

The next game was the tug of war. The game was between the students and teacher. It was battle of strength. We showed the teachers who's the boss.

After the games, the MAKABAYAN students stole the show. We prepared something for the teachers. It is little token of appreciation for all the thing they have done.

Our Lovely Adviser, Ma'am Ghia Sag-uban

We should always be grateful to our teachers. Aside from our parents, they built our lives. They are one of the reason we are who we are. They are our second parents who constructed our destinies. They are our teachers, mentors, coaches. They are our sister and brother. They are our family. Most importantly, they are our friends who always got our back. I am forever thankful to them.
